Well, we're still plugging away on the nursery. The drywall is done. The mudding is done. The primer is done. The cutting in for the painting is done. It still needs to be painted for real.
We are doing Valspar's Betsy's Linen for the ceiling, closet, and three walls. The other wall is getting a purple. I haven't purchased it yet so forget the name.
My dad will be coming down in a couple weeks to teach us/help us lay the laminate flooring. Then, minus trim, it will be done. It will at least be done enough that I can start putting together the crib, etc. Right now all our nursery furniture is living in the boxes they came in downstairs in the third bedroom.
I don't have any pictures of it right now. But it just looks like primed drywall so will hold off until the painting is finished.

Chickens and Flowers
Well, life has been busy for us the past month or so. You can read about some of it over at Logger's Wife.
We have done some work on the yard. We have adopted chickens, which has involved building a chicken coop. Which turned out to be too small. So now we are having to build another one.
Here is the current one. Matt is still working on the new one.

While Matt and my dad worked on the chickens, Mom and I worked on building a flower bed by the house. Here is what it looked like when we moved in.

Here is what it looked like when we fixed around the house.

And here is what it looks like now. Most my flowers aren't up more than little seedlings yet so I'll be sure to post a pic when they are full-grown.

We are doing a little still on the 2nd bedroom but it is at a snail's pace.

Waiting for the Light to Turn Green Again
Well, my computer is dead. I might be able to revive it but don't have that kind of money. So I have all my pictures on this computer (my husband's) so I can finally update.
We haven't done a lot. We are kind of at a standstill too. We need to replace the vent pipe as someone used it as a stud when handing the paneling in the bathroom. And we need to re-frame the closet. We took out the stairs so now we need to make it truly two closets and make an access hatch for the crawl space. Then we can finish drywalling so we can paint and replace the floor. Once we get those two things done, we should be able to fly through the drywalling and flooring since we already have it.
Here is how the 2nd bedroom looks right now.

That greenish yellow is the back of the tub/shower. And that is the pipe we need to replace. The cat loves to sneak into this room and crawl under the tub.

Can't wait to have a back wall on my closet again. :) And to bring all my clothes back up. I only keep Matt's shirts and my clothes for the week upstairs.

Half the carpet has been torn up. The rest will go when the drywall is on the wall and not stacked on the floor. Scraping that carpet padding up will be a challenge. We are doing a laminate wood floor though so we need to get the sub floor as smooth as we can.
So that is where we are right now. I'm hoping to replace the vent pipe this weekend so we can finish drywalling that wall. We are planning on moving temporarily into that room once it is finished so that we can do our room next.

No News
In case you were wondering, nothing new has happened here. Nothing. Nada. Not even a speck of paint. Still waiting on employment before we can start any more projects. Sooooo......here I sit. Being lazy. No projects. Really quite boring. Don't even have any paint to watch dry so it is even more boring than watching pain dry.
But, my personal blog is still being updated. So if you are really bored, you can head over there.

A Closet and A Hallway and A Standstill
A couple of Fridays ago, I was randomly bored so I decided to paint the bathroom closet. I could describe to you just how awful it was but in this case, pictures can speak a thousand words.

Awful, isn't it? What worse? Look at what came out of it. And this isn't even everything.

After a coat of (yet more) leftover bedroom paint, it now looks like this:

Please excuse the awful shelf paper job. We had just moved in and I was exhausted when I did it.
Also tackled recently was the tearing down of the the paneling in the hallway. Here it what it used to look like:
Here is what it looks like without the dark, fake wood paneling:

I'm not going to be able to paint it right away like planned though. We have decided to replace the drywall. It was put up with nails instead of screws and they have started to pop. Plus, most the seams looks like this:

But, until I can get a job, we can't afford to buy the new drywall.
We have also run into a couple other problems. We decided to do the guest room as well but the center wall sinks. So we need to go into the basement and jack up the wall before we start any drywall anyway. So, we are at a standstill until we can afford to do more work.
I am, however, still doing all the prep work. Next week I will begin to tear up the carpeting in the guest room and in the hallway. And I will need to rearrange things in the new guest bedroom (the third bedroom in the basement we usually use more for storage) so that we can get to where we need to put the floor jack. We had to take everything out of the second bedroom and put it in the third bedroom. Except for the desk which we put in the living room.
Everything is pretty much in upheaval but that is what happens when you live in a fixer-upper. :)

Coming Soon to a Blog Near You
I promise there will be an update soon. I've been a bit busy. The job that I landed is no more as the position has been eliminated. So I've been busy looking for work again.
But there has been some work on the house. I promise it will be up soon. In the meantime, head over A Day in the Life of a Logger's Wife to see the latest news.

I Know, I Know, I Promised
So I know I said pictures were coming soon but it is taking a bit longer than planned. We went camping this past weekend and it took me most of the week to get ready. I hadn't gone camping since high school so I ended up taking way more food and stuff than we needed. Then I came back from our long weekend trip to discover one of the cats decided that the guest bed looked like a good litter box. (I knew I should have closed the door before we left). So I had to wash all the bedding and now I am working on getting the mattress clean. All said and done, it will probably be next weekend before I can get pictures taken and uploaded. But I do promise it WILL happen....eventually. :)
